Po:- law, not war.................................................this is the basis for establishment (2002) of the International Criminal Court in the Hague to handle crimes against humanity and war crimes; the atrocities of World War II highlighted that the need for this type of criminal court to ideally act as a deterrent to would-be offenders.
Po:- seaweed to save the world...........................the growth in use of Australian red seaweed (Asparagopsis) as a livestock feed for ruminants, eg cattle, sheep, etc as a way to reduce their methane emissions.
NB Methane is a powerful heat-trapping gas; it is the second largest contributor to climate warming after carbon dioxide. It is estimated that livestock emissions, from manure and gastroenteric releases, etc., accounts for around 1/3 of human-caused methane emissions.
Po: self-generating skincare like communications platform.......................................................Dr Augustinus Bader developed a wound gel to overcome skin traumas and scarring by triggering skins own healing properties.
"...the product works like communication platform.....The skincare talks to the stem cells in your body, tell you what to do. We have billions of stem cells in the body; why not use them?..."
Dr Augustinus Bader as quoted by Lauren Sams, 2023
Po: democratising fashion...............................................before 1960's the UK fashion industry's main focus was on aristocrats and wealthy wives. Mary Quant saw it otherwise, ie
"...fashion had to be democratised, accessible to working-class girls who wanted to look stylish......fashion as empowering, letting women express their individuality and define self-confidence. When the women's liberation was finding its feet and gender roles in the workplace were being challenged, Quant fashion tapped into a social revolution..."
John McDonald, 2023
Despite her wealth and success, she was proud that clothes were accessible to the average person.
Po: collect rewards for you............................................... it has been demonstrated that reward programs are a tried and true method of increasing sales
"...with customers enrolled in these programs generally spending more and showing a greater willingness to recommend their favourite brands to others.."
Pat Dalton, 2023
However, carrying around rewards cards is a nuisance. Thus, Fintech PokitPal has built technology so the user just needs to register their existing card payments and PokotPal gathers the rewards on behalf of the user.
Po: use housewives as sales persons.............................a direct-sales concept known as hostess parties, ie
"...a woman to invite 15 or 20 friends and neighbours together to watch a demonstration of a product. The hostess would receive a non-cash gift for her troubles; everyone who attended would get free samples or other trinkets..."
Stephen Mihm, 2023
This became popular with women as it offered flexible hours and a source of income. Tupperware use this concept to sell products in home parties where women received a commission on their sales by opening up their homes and giving the company access to their networks of female friends and family members. This was so successful that Tupperware longer sold in conventional retail establishment and the only way to get the products was from home parties.
Po: mind over matter.........................the traditional view of pain is being challenged by Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), ie thinking pain away.
"...Pain is the body's warning system that something is awry. But this mechanism can malfunction. The original causal pathology can be repaired or heal, but the pain can persist.....maladaptive neuroplasticity occurs when the rewiring makes matters worse, so that even in the absence of the original physical trigger, pain continues..."
Peter Quarry, 2023
NB Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to rewire itself.
This has been described as the 'pain mistake'
"...understanding how pain works can reduce its severity and information can empower patients to seek out treatment options. Knowledge can lead to better quality conversations with health professionals..."
Paul Biegler as quoted by Peter Quarry, 2023.
Po: selling starting slots to gain prize-money .................................. New South Wales horse racing was the 'poor cousin' compared to Victoria (Australia); Victoria had the prestige of racing events like the Melbourne and Caulfield cups plus Cox Plate, etc that offered good prize-money. Based on an USA example where (the Pegasus race which was financed by selling starting slots for horses to participate in the race). This concept was used to develop a race called the Everest
"...It featured 12 slots sold for $600,000 each and Racing NSW put in an extra $2.6 million to bring the total price to $10 million. These slots are now worth $700,000 and prizemoney is $20 million, making it the largest amount of money an owner can receive for a race on turf globally..."

Po: drink yourself sober……………………………………..the traditional way of handling alcoholism is to abstain, ie stop drinking alcohol. However, the use of medication (naltrexone) and Sinclair method to treat alcoholism has a different approach. It suggests taking naltrexone around one hour before consuming alcohol.
Naltrexone is an opioid receptor antagonist, meaning it blocks the opioid receptors in the brain. These receptors are involved in the brain's reward system, including the pleasurable effects associated with alcohol consumption. This medicine reduces cravings and drinking levels.
Alcohol consumption typically releases endorphins, which activate opioid receptors and reinforce the drinking behaviour. Naltrexone blocks these receptors, meaning:
- Drinking no longer produces the same pleasure.
- This gradually breaks the habit loop.
- Over time, the brain “unlearns” the association between alcohol and reward.
This process is called “pharmacological extinction.” Eighty percent of people who use this approach now drink to safe levels or quit entirely; furthermore, there are significant reductions in cravings and binge drinking.
How this approach differs from traditional approaches
|
Approach |
Traditional Treatment |
Sinclair Method |
|
Goal |
Immediate abstinence |
Gradual reduction/extinction |
|
Medication Timing |
Daily, regardless of drinking |
Only before drinking (I hour) |
|
Abstinence Required? |

No |

Core Principle |
Willpower & support |

Summary
The Sinclair Method uses naltrexone strategically to weaken the brain's learned association between alcohol and pleasure. Over time, this helps reduce or eliminate alcohol dependence without requiring immediate abstinence. It’s a science-based, patient-controlled approach that has helped many people regain control over their drinking.

Po: merchandise available before release of movie, play, etc…………………………………………………
………………traditionally merchandise became available at, or after, the release of successful movie, play, etc. Disney productions reversed this by allowing merchandise to be sold prior to the release of one of its animated movies (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs). This helped promote and create more interest in the movie before its release and is now standard practice.
Po: luxury resort at home……………………………………with increasing focus on integrated well-being and healthy lifestyles, many households have moved away from the previous focus on rumpus room, media rooms, entertainment areas (such as cinema, etc), chlorinated indoor pools, fluoro-lit gyms, garage facilities, number of bedrooms/bathrooms etc to focus on well-being features like spas, relaxation areas (massage room, etc), treatment rooms, yoga decks, sauna and steam rooms, plunge (hot and cold) pools, etc.
Until now most of these well-being features were only found at upmarket resorts.
Furthermore, households are connecting to nature to create a relaxing atmosphere, such as
“…sound of running water, lush gardens, natural materials, well-ventilated spaces and exposure to natural light……natural swimming pools……chemical-free, naturally filtered……characterised by rounded forms and pool edges that merge with surroundings, natural pools are filtered by plants and microorganisms rather than chemicals…”
Bonnie Campbell, 2024
One home has the following:
“…A full home gym, an EWOT cardio device which is an oxygen delivery system on a treadmill to optimise oxygen levels while training, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, dry hot sauna and an infrared sauna, steam room, a Joovv red light therapy panel, cellular red light face therapy panel, ice bath, Normatic lymphatic drainage pants and a Pulsed in Electronic Magnetic Fields mat……Filtered reverse osmosis water, filtered air and circadian lighting that changes throughout the day to their support your body's natural circadian rhythms…… Zero VOC paints and non-toxic furnishings…”
