(Maturity Model Audit Cont 1)

Primary components (4)

This audit provides a qualitative diagnostic tool and considers the 4 primary components:

i) measuring maturity (can be used to baseline current maturity levels, set goals to establish targets for future maturity levels; track the progress on an enterprise's change management journey, etc)

ii) aligning stakeholders (encourages a shared perspective and purpose like
"...- aligning partners on the ECM journey
     - creating a shared-view maturity across a steering committee or team
     - encouraging senior management to commit to action
     - engaging key stakeholders and decision-makers
     - gaining commitment from senior leaders on the ECM journey
     - justifying the case for an investment in ECM
     - managing expectations of what growing change maturity requires
     - standardising a single view of maturity and current leadership..."

Posci, 2023i

NB ECM = enterprise change management)

iii) guiding actions (to establish a baseline and target to formulate action steps to close the gap, ie
"... Once we know where you are and where we want to be, you can figure out how to get there..."

Posci, 2023i

Some examples of tactics for guiding action:
"...- building a roadmap to maturity that people can get behind
     - complementing formal enterprise change management (ECM) strategies and tactics......
    - creating charts and roles are increasing maturity
    - driving decisions on focus, investments and trade-offs
     - ensuring we don't forget ending on the ECM journey
     - focusing on practical next steps in most important areas
     - identifying gaps that need to be addressed
     - privatising and sequencing action steps..."

Posci, 2023i)

iv) clarifying approach (as you move up the levels, change management increases in importance in the organisation's performance, ie
"...the organisation takes steps to embed and integrate change management into more functions in the organisation. Ultimately, projects and initiatives are more successful, evidence in improved realisation of benefits and achievement of desired outcomes..."

Need to demystify change management by using a structured and accessible approach, ie
"...- adding clarity to the definition of 'maturity'
     - briefing stakeholders on progress towards maturity
     - demystifying the approach and process to building maturity
     - educating others on change management and maturity
     - sharing a roadmap with others..."
