Introduction

Visioning is important to give stakeholders a focus, ie what to aim for and know where we are going.

A definition of a vision:

"...It is an image or dream of what our organisation aspires to be or become..."

Cynthia Scott, 1993

A mission statement, on the other hand, is how are we going to achieve the vision.

The sharing of the statements by key stakeholders is important in the process, ie need ownership

Answering the questions below can help identify the organizations/community's focus or the lack of a common or shared vision

Questionnaire

1. Why does our organisation exist?

2. Who are our customers and who should they be?

3. Where are our customers and what do they consider is value?

4. What industry or business is our organisation in, and which should it be in?

5. In what industry or business will our organisation be in the future?

6. How are we differentiated from our competition?
