Addressing Change Management Challenges in Program Management
Managing project-level changes effectively depends on your organisation's project management, program management and change management maturity.
Increase the chance of success by:
- including change management in conversations at the start of the project (ideally when developing the business case).
- defining and linking people-side benefits to program benefits at the onset of the program (clearly defined roles and responsibilities, such as project managers, program managers, change managers, etc; highlighting how these roles will work together).
- adopting a consistent change management approach throughout the organisation (this includes language, methodology, process, toolkit, etc)
- aggregating, where appropriate, at the program and project levels (the risk assessments, adoption-and-usage metrics, people-side impacts, saturation levels, stakeholder engagement plans, etc.)
- avoiding treating a program like one big project
