Turbulence Levels

It is important that an organisation matches its strategy to the turbulence level.

. Different strategies and capabilities are required, depending on the turbulence level.

. When an organisation and turbulence levels change, the organisational capabilities and strategies of the past are no longer appropriate.

. The past is never able to be recaptured. It is more important to recognise the need to develop new capabilities and strategies.

eg Telstra foresaw the coming of major changes in the early 1980s and began to modify its approach in order to handle these.
