Ten Qualities of Good Leadership
Introduction
In addition to a blend of skills and qualities there is a spark that is hard to define in good leaders. They have a 'presence'.
Ten qualities
i) achieve results (around performance like financial (profit and loss, etc), growth, efficiency, effectiveness, people skills (staff engagement, retention, relationships, etc), innovation, etc)
ii) build resilience (focused on ability to handle stressful situations; delegate effectively; improve mindsets; willing to make tough decisions; practice self-care, etc)
iii) develop strategy (that is effective and realistic; achieve buy-in by relevant stakeholders so that it is followed and implemented by stakeholders, etc)
iv) possess good coaching ability (continually coaching and guiding staff so that they are empowered, engaged, etc; understand staff capabilities, ie their strengths and weaknesses, and thus maximising their performance; lead by example
"...avoid potential issues that may arise from defensive or emotional responses, poor attitudes..."

v) harness business acumen (able to navigate different environments like dealing with change, disruption, uncertainty, ambiguity, volatility, complexity, etc; exploit opportunities as they arise)
vi) practise self-discipline (be a good role model; 'walk the talk'; maintain standards, etc)
vii) effective communicators (
"...clear, open and honest communications by yourself and your team is critical to ensuring your business operates efficiently and effectively..."
Your Business Momentum, 2022)
viii) are continually implementing (taking action; continually monitoring and evaluating performance and modifying as required; ensure adequate resources available to meet the required outcomes, etc)
ix) have self-confidence and energy (finding strength from within plus energy to combat obstacles; makes the approach contagious)
x) live by their values (know what you stand for; consistently upholding your values
"...evaluating a situation or decision against your values, can instantly recognise that something does, or doesn't fit, your values. Your values are the essence of who you are. By staying true to your values, you are showing......Who you are and what is important to you. If you falter on your values......then others will instantly recognise this, which then creates potential trust issues..."
