Being rational conveys an image of greater deliberation, more calculation, more effort and less warmth; it assumes a person's beliefs and preferences are reasonable.
Another way of looking at rationality is being internally consistent rather than reasonable.
This is favoured by non-psychologists, especially economists.
Humans are not irrational but we need help to make more accurate judgements and better decisions, ie
